Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
