I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout match which will be shown in real-time on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the pair confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former twice world boxing king Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge disparity - at Miami arena on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I'm going to break his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I will genuinely try to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

In spite of these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically known for his showmanship - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul instead criticized former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou rejected a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite declaring he will damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly under discussion for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.

Size Disparity

As both boxers engaged in the traditional face-off, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really proceeding.
