19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on court had led some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, took control to create a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
